RM Borehole and Well Hand Pumps
FAQ
How can a piston pump operate without rigid lift rods?
Tension on the webbing completes the pressure stroke. Gravity pull it back down. The piston plunger is a 1 m length heavy-walled stainless steel pipe. This and the foot valve has enough weight to complete the return stroke
Won't the webbing stretch and wear?
No. The webbing is a certified cargo strop material, rated to 1600 kg. Stretch is minimal and is automatically adjusted in the piston stroke which is operational over a very long stroke-range.
The webbing runs through low-friction plastic guides. Our extensive testing shows that webbing and guide wear is very minimal.
